Nic Portaro is a queer poet with fellowship from the Lambda Literary Foundation and Wheeler Centre. They have work published in Muzzle Magazine, the Paris American, Write Bloody, BOAAT, Lambda Literary, Souvenir Magazine, Reservoir, decomP and others. In 2014, Nic was rated one SF Weekly’s “Best Writers without a Book” and has performed at the National Queer Arts Festival (USA), the Santa Cruz Music Festival (USA), Lit Quake (USA) and the Emerging Writers’ Festival (AUS). Nic was a 2019 Wheeler Centre Hot Desk Fellow. In 2022, their poem Red was nominated for a Pushcart Prize.

From California, they currently live in Naarm (Melbourne, Australia).
